A foundational figure of UK underground music, Scratchclart (aka Scratcha DVA) returns to Cakeshop on July 3rd, joined by MC and artist DarkmanZulu. Over the past two decades, he has helped shape multiple waves of London's club culture from jungle and grime, through founding his label DVA Music, to a six-year run hosting Rinse FM's legendary Grimey Breakfast Show. His albums [Pretty Ugly] and [Notu Uronlineu] on Hyperdub, alongside the DRMTRK series launched in 2018, trace a sound that's constantly evolving: deeply rooted in the diaspora while scanning the horizon for what's next, weaving together UK bass, Gqom, and UK Funky. He'll be joined by DarkmanZulu, an MC and artist from the UK underground scene active across UK Garage, UK Funky, and bass music, known for his performances and collaborations in London's clubs and on radio. Rounding out the night, Kimchi Factory Homies bring their full local lineup: h4rdy, DJ Co.kr and Zion.
